‘Thambikkottai’ is produced under the banner of ‘Thambikkottai’ Rajeshwari Films by Suresh.
The movie stars Narain in the lead role, while talks are on to rope in Meena, Poonam Bajwa, Prabhu and Vadivelu.
The director worked with Jayam Raja for ‘Something Something Unakkum Enakkum’ and ‘Santhosh Subramaniyam’. He also wrote the comedy track for movies like ‘Masilamani’ and ‘Ninaithale Inikkum’.
Now Ammu Ramesh is also doing the story and screenplay of the movie, apart from directing it.

Narain injured while shooting for Thambikkottai
Actor Narain, was injured in an accident at Thanjavur during the shoot of his forthcoming Tamil film Thambikkottai and hospitalized immediately.
According to sources, a bridge erected by the art director cum director Ammu Ramesh with a whopping one crore, collapsed when a crucial part of the climax scene of the film was being canned.
Narain fell from the bridge and suffered some minor injuries. Insiders say that the plot of the film revolves around the bridge.
Thambikkottai is based on a true story that occurred in a town located between Thambikkottai and Pattukkottai. Poonam Bajwa dons the role of a plus 2 student while Prabhu and Meena have substantial roles.
Also in the cast are Sangitha, Kausalya, Aarthi, M.S. Bhaskar, Santhanam, Ganja Karuppu, Manobala, Alex, Rajendran, Crane Manohar and Muthukalai. D. Imman is composing the music and Kannan handles the camera.
Sangeetha plays Beeda Pandiyamma in 'Thambikkottai'
The married and talented Sangeetha will once again be spoken about for her performance once 'Thambikottai' is released, industry observers point out. The 'Uyir' and 'Pithamagan' actress, one of the few actresses in the industry who can play any kind of role with aplomb, is playing a woman don in the film whose character is named as Beeda Pandiamma.
As per reports, Sangeetha is playing a good-hearted don, who happens to be the bete noire of the villain (played by 'Naan Kadavul' fame Rajendran).
"Her character has to utter a lot of punch and disrespectful dialogues as per the script. Though an illiterate, Beeda Pandiamma happens to know everything about Indian Law (civil and criminal, of course!). The sequences in which she quotes from law books would evoke rapturous applause from the audience," says the source.
Director Ammu Ramesh has shaped up her character in such a way.
Since no actress prior to her has played a don before, Sangeetha hasn't had any specific character to draw reference from and has done whatever she has done entirely on her own imagination and talent. She has given her best and has rendered full justice to the role," sources add.
Narain and Poonam Bajwa play the lead roles in the film which also re-unites yesteryear's romantic and successful pair of Prabhu and Meena after a long time. Actress Kausalya too plays a prominent role in the movie.
